This spring, the library is hosting an inaugural Pollak Library First Year Experience Essay Contest. The winners will receive cash prizes: Grand Prize winner receives $300.00. Second Place receives $200 and Third Place $100. The final date to submit an entry is March 15th. Winners will be announced in April during National Library Week.
To be eligible: Students must have been enrolled in any University 100-level course (or Humanities 100) during Fall 2018 and currently be a freshman or transfer student in their first year at CSUF.
Directions: Prepare a typed essay no more than two pages (500 – 1000 word count) answering the following prompt:
Tell us a story of how you’ve utilized the Pollak Library as a tool for success in your first year. Also, reflect on your plans for how you might use the library to find success in the future at CSUF.
In order to be successful, identify a place, service, or resource of value in our campus library. Examples include University Learning Center, Student Genius Corner, Circulation Desk, Writing Center, African-American Resource Center, etc. (full list can be found on the web page). Select one you’ve already used and one or more that you plan to write about in the essay.
Best of luck to all contestants!
