Pollak Library Work
In what section or unit of the Pollak Library do you work?
I work in Library Administration.
What is your job in a nutshell so far?
Working as a part of the library administration team to support the faculty and staff of the Pollak Library. My main responsibilities involve serving as a liaison for HRDI, recruitments, co-chairing the social events committee, on-boarding new employees, time reporting, etc.
What are you working on right now?
I’m currently assisting with several faculty & staff recruitments, planning the spring recognition party and updating employee content on the library’s website.
Prior Work Experience
Would you like to share a bit about your previous work experience?
I have worked on campus for the last 2 years in University Advancement. During that time I was able to learn University policies & procedures, work on large scale events and contribute to fundraising efforts of the University. Prior to that I worked as a branch director for the Boys & Girls Club and in Parks & Recreation Administration for the City of Covina.
What motivated you to become a librarian or to work in libraries?
I am interested in pursuing a career in human resources. I’ve always enjoyed working with people and taking on new challenges. This position gives me the opportunity to understand the different facets of HR in an academic setting.
Would you like to share a bit about your educational background?
I received my bachelor’s degree in Sociology with minors in Management and Education from UC Irvine and my Master’s degree in Public Administration from CSU Long Beach.
What are your passions or interests outside of work?
I love spending time with my family and friends. My husband and I enjoy traveling and are planning a trip to France & Italy this summer. Right now I’m interested in learning about French and Italian culture, history and food to prepare for the trip. Any helpful tips are appreciated!
What is a website, database, or digital tool that you recently discovered and recommend?
I recently learned about ORCID. It’s a great way to uniquely identify scientific and academic authors.
