When our student assistants graduate, the Library asks each one to choose a book from our collection that is meaningful to them. That book can be anything. Some students choose a favorite childhood book, some choose one about a favorite hobby or subject, others choose a book that inspired them personally or professionally. In that student’s honor, a bookplate is placed in the book, their name is added to a note in that item’s catalog record, and the student is presented with a plaque that includes the bibliographic record and a copy of the bookplate.
Name: Alex Merigo
Major(s): Accounting and Information Systems
Positions(s) in the Library: Library Systems
Book Selection: Winning (2005), by Jack Welch
Why did you choose this book?
“I read this book for Management 449 which is the business capstone class and found it very interesting because of all the concepts that were covered in the book. In all of the classes that I have attended at Cal State Fullerton, there is always some key takeaway points that were explained in the book. Overall, I highly recommend this book to any business majors, specially those in Management. Jack Welch has many great points that seem to cover just about all of the essentials needed for a successful organization.”
Alex wanted to draw our attention to this quote from Warren E. Buffet about the book. “No other management book will ever be needed” – Warren E. Buffett
What are your plans after graduation?
Alex plans to embark on a new career in the account field.
The Pollak Library thanks Alex for his hard work here, and we wish him continued success with his new career!
