Introducing The Crime Report: Quality Reports by Crime Specialists and Journalists

Posted in Faculty, General News, Library Research, Social Sciences, and Students

The Crime Report is a recently acquired database of great interest to Criminal Justice students, as well as any students studying the effect of crime on our society.

This database is a comprehensive news service which covers current issues in the U.S. and abroad. Rather than scholarly journal articles, this source includes reports written by working crime specialists and journalists. Included in the database are investigative reports, analysis, blog postings and commentary by some of the nation’s most accomplished reporters, leading criminologists, practitioners, law enforcement and corrections professionals. Also included are summaries of the most important criminal justice news. The Crime Report is updated daily and is published by the Center on Media, Crime and Justice at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York.

It is possible to sign up for a weekly email newsletter to see coverage on that week’s crime issues or to search the entire database by topic. It is a full-text database.

To access the database and the newsletter function, you will want to go through the library home page and click on Databases. It is also available through our Criminal Justice Research Guide.
