Do you own an iPad, iPhone 4 or iPod Touch (4th generation)?

With the release of iOS 4.2 last week, Apple now makes the Find My iPad, Find My iPhone and Find My iPod Touch apps available for free.

This is a “must have” tool for anyone using these devices, which allows you to locate a missing device, remotely lock down that device with a passcode, and remotely wipe the data from that device if necessary.

To take advantage of this feature, you must be running the latest iOS mobile operating system (upgrade, if you haven’t already done so) and you must sign up for a MobileMe account.  If you don’t already have, or want to pay for, a full account with all of the extra MobileMe bells and whistles, Apple now allows you to sign up for a FREE MobileMe account for the purpose of accessing this “Find My” security feature.  You can get instructions Find My iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
