Tech Tuesdays: Xtranormal for Digital Storytelling Assignments

Posted in Faculty, General News, Students, Technical Support, and Tutoring, Tutorials & Tips

Are you a professor or teacher looking for innovative approaches to include digital storytelling into your lesson plans and class assignments for next semester?

Are you a student working on a creative project due at the end of this semester?

xtranormal is a popular, easy to use, Text to Movie tool for creating those fun short little computer animated videos that keep popping up all over the web.  You simply make a few choices regarding the number of animated characters, background settings, camera angles, etc., and then type your dialogue (5 minutes or less, for the free version).  Videos can be shared online, uploaded to YouTube, and embedded into blogs and websites.

While xtranormal does definitely encourage upgrading to premium fee-based features, the basic free version allows for:

  • Up to 5 minutes of video.
  • One or two characters.
  • One background.

Educators can request a free license for creating educational videos.
