October is American Archives Month

Calisphere, a database of primary sources related to California history, has added a new collection, Local History Mapped. This collection allows you to explore images of 19th and 20th century California on themes that relate to the State Board of Education’s content standards, such as transportation, natural disasters, or civic buildings.

  • You can browse images that depict your hometown by clicking on the map of California.
  • Each image comes with information about where it was taken.
  • Each collection description includes a Teachers Toolbox full of useful resources and ideas for educators.
